Over a decade building one clinic, inside and out.
I'm Dr. Joshua Wallert. I run clinical operations and write the software behind them, and I still see patients while I do it.
Most people who sell practice advice have never worked a day in a clinic. I've spent my whole career inside one, building the systems it runs on.
I joined a functional medicine clinic and never left. It's a full-scope practice: nutrition, lab testing, chiropractic, nurses and PAs, IV therapy, and hormone and regenerative programs. I helped build most of those service lines, and I still carry my own caseload of complex cases.
Somewhere in there I taught myself to code. I didn't write our EMR, but I built almost everything around it. Using the EMR's own API, I took the practice off spreadsheets and onto custom tools: audits that flag billing and scheduling problems early, one screen that gathers a complex patient's whole history for the care team, and small tools that erase repetitive work. Today I'm the clinic's CIO, and most of my week goes to building software.
For the last year and a half I've built almost everything with AI-assisted tools, working alongside Claude Code most days. That's the shift that makes Alta possible. The rebuild that took me less than five months would once have needed a team and the better part of a year, so work that used to be out of reach for an independent practice suddenly isn't.
My clinical training is why I can read your workflow without a translator. I know what a patient visit actually involves, so the systems I build fit the way care really happens.
Systems & AI tooling
I build the tools a practice actually uses on top of the systems it already has: audits, dashboards, automation, and AI-assisted workflows shaped around how the clinic really runs.
Operational experience
Over a decade building and coordinating a full-scope functional medicine clinic, from labs and IV therapy to hormone and regenerative programs. I'm its CIO and a lead provider today.
Clinical background
Doctor of Chiropractic with a functional-neurology diplomate (DACNB). I speak the clinical language, so I understand the patient visits and protocols behind every workflow.
- iGood clinicians deserve a practice that runs as well as their medicine.
- iiSystems should give you time back for patients, not add more busywork.
- iiiI only recommend what I've seen work inside a real clinic.
- ivI take on a few practices at a time, so the ones I work with get my attention.
